Tummy vs forever

My dearest darling girl,

This afternoon, you suddenly asked me whether you came from my tummy.

Although we have been sharing with you ever since you were a baby about our being your forever daddy and forever mommy, this day that I knew would come came when... well... I was just reflecting earlier in the day that this day may never come.

I told you the truth... I am not your tummy mommy.  However, you come from our heart and we are your forever daddy and forever mommy.

You left the matter be and I thought I would not need to revisit this issue for some time more.

Suddenly, while you were drinking your night milk, you suddenly brought up the topic again.  You asked me why you did not come from my tummy.  What can I say, girlie?  Sometimes in life, things do not always go the way we hope for.  When a door is closed to us, the Lord opens an even bigger door.  The more we hear God's Word and make the effort to understand it, Jesus is our High Priest (after the order of Melchizedek) forever.  And God cannot do otherwise but bless us.

You asked me whether, before you were born, we had a baby cot at home.  And I told you that we did (it was a pre-loved cot that was given to us when daddy and I got married).  I was speechless when you replied, "What for?  There was nobody in the baby cot!".  You are right, my darling.  And that it why when the cot remained empty for years after we got married, daddy and I gave the cot away.  Seeing the cot daily was a painful reminder about all our failed attempts to have a baby.

But the Lord is so wonderful, girl.  Your tummy daddy and tummy mommy love you but were not able to take care of you nor provide for you.  So they asked Jesus to look for a forever family for you.  At the same time, daddy and I prayed to Jesus to bless us with a forever little girl.  And the Lord found you and us.  We are a forever family and what the Lord has joined together, let no man divide.

You asked about some of your loved ones and I shared with you their circumstances.  I could hear the hurt in your voice when you asked why a certain jie jie's and a certain mei mei's mommy is not only their forever mommy but is also their tummy mommy.  You kept asking me why I could not be your tummy mommy.

I cannot change facts, girlie.  What I do know is that you come from our hearts and in our hearts you will always remain.  We are a forever family - you, mei mei, daddy and mommy.  We will love you always. Even when you are naughty, we still love you.  You are the Lord's most precious blessing to us and every day, I give thanks to Him for blessing us with such a wonderful girl as you.

We can never understand the mysteries of life, sweetheart.  But we can treasure every moment we have together and appreciate His love for us.

We love you always.
